Cloth Diaper Customer Family Spotlight

The beautiful smile of Karina Pearl Tao.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR FAMILY!

Kevin and I, Karen, have known each other since we were undergrads. After college, we stayed in touch but didn’t really find our way back to each other until years later and got married in 2010. Karina Pearl is our first, named after both of our mothers. She was born on Christmas Day 2013 (poor thing got stuck with a holiday birthday) and we are having so much fun being parents. We love her so much and she is definitely getting the first child treatment: lots of attention, lots of photos, and unnecessarily germaphobic parents.

AND TELL US ABOUT THE LITTLE ONE WHOSE WEARING CLOTH DIAPERS!

We decided to start with disposable diapers knowing that the first few months were going to be a tough transition since she was our first. But cloth diapers was something I always wanted to try and after hearing about Green Diaper Babies through NPN, we decided to finally give it a shot. I felt that using a service was also a good way to ease my husband into the idea of using cloth and we’ve been so happy with the service that we decided to stick with it. I have to admit, we do enjoy handing off the bag of dirty diapers each week for someone else to wash. The only challenge now is getting Karina to sit still on the changing table in order to get the diaper on her.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN REASONS YOU LIKE BEING A PART OF THE GREEN DIAPER BABIES FAMILY?

Shannon has been very attentive and helpful. We were nervous at first but she responds quickly to any questions or concerns that I have. She provided us with liners, a list of the diaper creams we could use and we also love the lifetime cover rental program. It’s also great knowing that we’re supporting a local business and we like feeling like we’re a part of a community here in Chicago.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE ACTIVIES TO DO AS A FAMILY?

We love to go to the park, take walks, go to street festivals, visit the bongo man and get lunch at the Green City Market, listen to Tunes with Tim. We also discovered we can go to dinner together and be home in time for bedtime as long as we show up at 5pm as the first (and often only) patrons. We also love to travel and hope to take our baby girl with us to see the world.
