What is Chicagoland CPR, LLC?

We teach certified life saving skills, through the American Heart Association guidelines, to medical professionals, first responders, and anyone interested in learning new skills. We service the Chicagoland area. We’ll go anywhere to teach a group of people. Typically we’d prefer at least 15 people if we need to travel to a far suburb but we are based out of the northwest side of Chicago.

Where do you offer this?

We come to you! We’ll travel to companies, churches, meeting spaces, schools, hospitals, firehouses, police stations, libraries, wherever a group can gather with enough space to practice.

What do you love about what you do, why do you do it?

I love the fact that we are putting life saving skills into the hands of regular everyday people. We teach first responders and medical professionals because they need this training but for the general public being able to have the skills to recognize when someone is in distress and have the knowledge to be able to help is what makes it fulfilling for me. Someday, myself or someone I love may need CPR and the more people we educate and certify on the correct way to perform CPR and to call 911 the more lives we can save.

What is something that most interests you about this topic and need?

The most interesting thing is how essential CPR is to the basics of life saving. There is a Murphy’s Law of EMT saying that goes “Air goes in and out, blood goes round and round, any variation on this is bad.” CPR helps bring air in and out, and moves blood round and round so for as long as CPR is being performed correctly the person in distress has a chance at survival.

What is the most interesting thing you’ve learned this year, company or otherwise?

I was very surprised to find out how many education professionals are not certified in CPR. These are people that are entrusted with our children for 8 hours a day and they are not required to be CPR certified. All the more reason to help get this knowledge to more people!

What’s your connection to Green Diaper Babies (why do you use cloth?)

This March (2017) I had my second child and we are customers of Green Diaper Babies! We use cloth to lessen our negative impact on the Earth.

This interview highlights current Green Diaper Babies customer, Cara T.  Let’s talk about Zumbini in Logan Square, Chicago!

Zubmini group lead by Cara Turner.

What is your business to share?
Zumbini by Cara Turner.

What do you do, what services do you offer, who do you offer it to?
Created by Zumba® for kids ages 0-4 and their caregivers, the Zumbini® program combines music, dance and educational tools for 45 minutes of can’t-stop, won’t-stop bonding, learning, and fun!

Where do you offer this?
I’m currently teaching in Logan Square at Studio 101 Dance and Fitness (3627 W Armitage) on  Saturdays at 10a. I am also available to do demos for businesses, groups, parties, festivals, etc.

What do you love about what you do, why do you do it?
I discovered Zumbini after becoming a new mom in November 2016. My daughter, Wren, was totally captivated by Zumbini TV from birth! When I couldn’t find any classes in our area, I thought it would be really special to bond with Wren by learning to teach Zumbini together. We practice everyday and she comes to my classes with her dad. We all love it!

Fun in class at Zumbini with Cara Turner.

What is something that most interests you about this topic and need?
Through session based classes (typically around 6 weeks), I see the children develop gross motor skills (moving to the music), strengthen fine motor skills (learning to play instruments), and develop social skills (learning to share and play together). It has been fun and rewarding to share these experiences with families.
What is the most interesting thing you’ve learned this year, company or otherwise?
Even as newborns, your child will have their own personality and interests. An exciting part of the parenting adventure is engaging in a variety of activities with your child, some of which may even be new to you.

What’s your connection to Green Diaper Babies  and why do you use cloth?
Cloth diapering was something we were curious about during pregnancy. We attended a cloth diapering class with Shannon of Green Diaper Babies to learn more and really liked the ease and convenience of a service as well as the all-in-one diapers. In addition to being environmentally conscious, we learned cloth diapering leads to earlier potty training and were sold.

Meet The Geishecker Family

The Geishecker Family. Working with Green Diaper babies since December 2014.

Tell us a little bit about your family, who are they and what do they love?

We live in Glen Ellyn, where Charles is a pastor and Sara is an English Language teacher. Sara is from the Chicago suburbs, and Charles grew up in Ohio. Parker is now two years old. He loves trucks, trains, and cars. He is very inquisitive, energetic, helpful, and loving. He loves to read, which is one of the few times he will sit still! He also loves dogs, especially his greyhound, April.

What are the main reasons you like being a part of the Green Diaper Babies family?

Sara was a cloth diaper baby herself, and wanted her baby to have a more comfortable and environmentally friendly option for diapers. We love the convenience of having the diapers cleaned, and picked up and dropped off weekly. The diaper covers are cute too!

What advice can you share regarding cloth diapers?

Change the diapers more often than you would a disposable. Make sure every bit of the diaper is tucked in the cover!
Advice regarding parenting and loving your family?
Spend as much time as you can with your child(ren.) You never know when the last time will be that you get to give them a bottle, rock them to sleep, or help them brush their hair. Enjoy every moment! Dishes, cleaning, etc. can wait. Take tons of pictures, and write down everything. Keep a baby book, or a journal where you can write down what they did each day. Set aside time each week to spend as a family, even if it’s just an hour.

What are some of your favorite activities to do as a family and anything else you’d like to share?

We love to visit the Morton Arboretum (especially the children’s garden), go on long walks around the neighborhood, and cook together. Having a child makes even the most ordinary of errands (like grocery shopping) something exciting. We love to spend time with grandparents and family, and be outside.
